Crewe assistant boss Neil Baker says the Alex managerial team will not give up despite the side being bottom of League One.
Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Leyton Orient extended the Railwaymen's winless run to 10 games.
Baker told BBC Radio Stoke: "If you show signs of giving up then you've got no chance.
"The players haven't given up and neither have we. Being in a position like this makes you more determined."
On-loan midfielder Stuart Green made his debut for Crewe in the defeat at the Alexandra Stadium and Baker said the club will continue to look to strengthen the squad.
Whatever job you are in, criticism is bound to affect you

"We are trying to bring players in and we have a list of targets that are all experienced players," he said
"But we are finding that managers don't want to let players go or that players don't want to come. Struggling at the bottom of League One doesn't make you an attractive proposition."
Some sections of the Alex fans have called for Baker and first-team coach Steve Holland to resign but Baker said the pair will continue to work hard to turn results around.
"Whatever job you are in, criticism is bound to affect you," Baker said.
"Being on the inside I can say that Steve is working as hard as he ever has, if not harder.
"If we can bring players in to help then good, if not we will work with the players we've got."
