We will silence boo boys - Pope

Tom Pope
Pope joined Crewe from Biddulph Victoria in June 2006

Crewe striker Tom Pope believes the League One strugglers can turn results around and win over the disgruntled sections of the club's supporters.

In recent weeks some fans have vented their frustrations about Crewe's poor form, with first-team coach Steve Holland a target for heavy criticism.

Pope told BBC Radio Stoke: "I don't see why the gaffer is getting the abuse.

"The fans pay their money and they are entitled to their opinion but with a few good results we can shut them up."

The 23-year-old came off the bench to score and earn the Alex a point in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Peterborough.

With five goals this season, the former Biddulph Victoria man is the Railwaymen's leading scorer this season but said he still has to fight for his place in the starting 11.

"There's six of us fighting for the two starting places up front," said Pope.

"If I have to settle for a place on the bench then hopefully I can come on and make an impact like I did against Peterborough."
