Colchester United manager Paul Lambert heaped praise on his back four following their 2-0 win at Carlisle.
The U's have gone nine League One games unbeaten and sit 11th in the table.
Lambert told BBC Essex much of the credit should go to his defence: "Alan Maybury is as consistent as the day is long, he's brilliant.
"Marc Tierney I think will get better and better as his career unfolds, and Pat Baldwin and Paul Reid are defending just the way I want," he added.
"Jimmy Walker has come in and I've likened Jimmy before to Andy Goram - which is the highest compliment I can give him."
