Colchester United manager Geraint Williams says there will be no hangover from last season's relegation.
The U's begin their return to League One away to Hartlepool, after finishing bottom of the Championship last year.
Williams told BBC Essex the previous season has already been forgotten: "Everyone has been really positive since the end of last season.
"We had a meeting before everyone went away for the summer and we said that season was finished there and then."
"So everyone's gone away and done their end of season programme, they've done it well - so we looking forward to the start of the season," he added.
Williams said he was pleased with the squad he had available to him for the season ahead.
"There's been a big turnover [of players] and the people we wanted to stay are staying, and the ones we wanted we've brought in.
"So obviously we're delighted with the squad at the moment."
