Williams is preparing for his third season in charge of the U's.
Colchester United manager Geraint Williams has said he was not happy with the performance of his side in their first match at their ground.
The U's were beaten 2-1 in a friendly by Athletic Bilbao at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Monday.
The Spaniards had a man sent off on the hour but won with a late penalty.
Williams told BBC Essex: "I was a bit disappointed with the way we used the ball, especially when they went down to ten men."
The Welshman added: "We're getting used to new surroundings, it's a lovely stadium and we've got to make sure that when we go out there we let everyone know it's our stadium."
The U's went behind when Aritz Aduriz opened the scoring but a Scott Vernon penalty restored parity before half-time.
Ander Murillo was sent-off for violent conduct but Bilbao clinched their victory through David Lopez's penalty.
