Richardson says Saturday's clash with Macclesfield will be a tough test
Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Aldershot is still a step in the right direction.
The Spireites are two points away from the play-off places with a game in hand over promotion rivals Exeter, Gillingham and Shrewsbury.
Richardson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We've drawn away from home on the back of two great victories.
"We've got a point away from home - we've got to take that as a positive and move forward."
Richardson said: "I can't fault the players... if had we been a little bit sharper and a bit brighter I think we would have won the game comfortably.
"People might have the impression that sides who are mid-table aren't difficult opposition, they've got nothing to play for so they can play with great freedom and it's sometimes difficult to overcome that."
