Chester manager Mick Wadsworth hopes he can extend Clark Keltie's loan deal after an encouraging debut in Sunday's 0-0 local derby draw at Wrexham.
"He was very dominant in the centre of the park," City boss Wadsworth told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"If he does well it's not just a month. We hope to keep him a little bit longer and that's the aim."
Keltie, 26, moved to the Deva Stadium only on Friday on a month-long loan from League Two side Rochdale.
The Chester boss was full of praise for his side for the way they battled at the Racecourse Ground for a fifth successive away league draw.

"It was a good performance," said Wadsworth. "It was battling, steely and a grim determination not to be beaten.
"In many parts of the game I thought we were the better team. I thought we did really well and created a couple of chances to win the game."
