Cheltenham Town sign Peterborough defender Danny Andrew

Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town have signed Peterborough United defender Danny Andrew on a month's loan.

The 19-year-old is Mark Yates' first signing since becoming Robins boss.

Yates told BBC Gloucestershire: "I know Danny after having him for a couple of months at Kidderminster. He's a good defender with a great left foot.

"Mark Cooper was keen for him to go up a level and it suits both of us. We need young competition for places throughout the team."

Andrew signed his first professional contract at Peterborough during last summer and had a loan spell at Tamworth before his stint at Aggborough.

He is likely to go straight into the team at Grimsby on Saturday with Lee Ridley struggling to shake off a calf injury picked up at Dagenham on 28 December.
