Cheltenham boss Martin Allen admits he is dreading his sponsored 76-mile bike ride from his home in Berkshire to Cheltenham on Sunday.

Allen is trying to raise funds to sign another player or two for the club.

"I thought it was 72 miles, the fact it's 76 has ruined my day completely," he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"My best in practice is 26 miles, and I've been doing a bit of hill work, it's dreadful, I really am not looking forward to it one little bit."

Allen completed a similar ride in 2005 which raised £17,000 over a shorter distance of 25 miles, but says he has no idea how much he will generate this time.

"I haven't got involved in any of the amounts of money so I'm not aware, but it will make a difference," he said.

The Robins boss is joined by Cheltenham associate director Simon Masding and six fans on the ride, but BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Mark Cummings has had to pull out because of a torn calf.
