Allen delighted with Cheltenham display

Cheltenham boss Martin Allen has praised his players for drawing with Swindon 2-2 after revealing they went into the game with no scouting report.

The cash-strapped Robins ended a run of seven straight defeats on Tuesday.

"They were superb. They've done us proud. They could've gone out there and played kick and rush football because of the wind and rain," said Allen.

"But we passed the ball and controlled the game. The players have responded with a terrific performance."

Cheltenham are in turmoil having only just avoided administration last week and with an ever-dwindling squad of players as they look to balance the books.

Allen told Points West: "We've come into the game without a scouting report. A mate of mine has gone to Leicester to do me a favour (ahead of Saturday's match).

"The players were told that they might not get paid on time and that they could go for free to cut the wage bill.

"I've had about 20,000 agents phoning me after my players and it's been a fend-off operation.

"I've been on my own without no staff to help me."
