Cheltenham manager Martin Allen paid tribute to his team after they came from behind to beat Morecambe 3-2 in the second round of the FA Cup.

Allen's side will now face Championships strugglers Doncaster in the third round of the competition.

"I'm absolutely delighted to win here," Allen told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"The players have done an awful amount of travelling and we have not trained that much so to come from behind to win makes it very special."

Two goals from Ashley Vincent and one from John Finnigan secured the victory for Cheltenham, who had gone behind twice.

"We showed character and commitment and passed the ball superbly," said Allen.

"The conditions were difficult and it was cold but we passed the ball well despite the temptation to go long.

"We found ourselves 1-0 down but came back and it's a great night for our club."

Allen was also delighted to see midfielder Finnigan return to the side after his injury problems over the past 12 months.

"It was great to have John Finnigan back, it is like having a new signing for me," said Allen.

"It was a gamble for me to play him but he is a captain of men."

Allen added: "It's great to be in the next round of the cup and hopefully that will give our players confidence and we can take that into the weekend's league game against Crewe."
