Somerville has only played twice for Gloucester |
Gloucester will be without All Blacks prop Greg Somerville for more than two months after he underwent eye surgery. The 31-year-old was hurt during the defeat by London Irish and had surgery at a Cheltenham hospital to re-attach the retina in his left eye. "It's a nasty injury and will take some considerable recovery time," head coach Dean Ryan told the club's website. Somerville will miss at least seven Premiership games and Gloucester's two remaining Heineken Cup pool matches. | 606: DEBATE | He has only played two games, one as a replacement, since joining Gloucester earlier this month after winning 66 caps for New Zealand. "We will obviously miss his contribution as a world-class player, and we wish him a speedy recovery," Ryan added.
