Charlton could face fine after streaker interrupts game
Charlton have warned fans to consider the implications of invading the pitch after a teenage streaker interrupted their home game against Hartlepool.
Athletic are anticipating a hefty fine from the Football Association to follow from the incident last Tuesday.
Addicks operations director Mick Everett said: "I can understand why fans thought it funny.
"It was the last thing the club needed because money is tight. Now we face a fine because of a stupid incident."
The 16-year-old from Hastings was charged and bailed over the incident but Everett explained that the problems did not end there and made allegations about further trouble after the game.
"Several of his friends filmed his exploits on their phones so they could post them on the internet and gathered outside the players' entrance after the game in an attempt to film him," he explained.
"When they were asked to move away one started throwing punches at our stewards and a second attempted a headbutt.
"So a seemingly innocent incident will therefore lead to three individuals being banned from attending games at The Valley.
"In all probability, at least one will receive a national ban.
"So I would like supporters to ask themselves, is going on to the pitch worth a court appearance and a probable football banning order?
"It also results in charges and fines for the club you are supposed to support."
