Charlton keeper Rob Elliot wants Kent cricket role

Elliot wants to coach with Kent wicketkeeper Geraint Jones

Charlton goalkeeper Rob Elliot wants to work with Kent and England wicketkeeper Geraint Jones in the summer.

Elliot, who is a passionate cricket follower, plays for Kent village sides Frindsbury and Harbledown.

Now he hopes to make the step up by persuading Kent coach Paul Farbrace and Jones that he can assist the county with coaching.

Elliot told BBC Radio Kent: "Geraint likes to relate goalkeeping to wicketkeeping so I hope I can assist."

He added: "I love cricket as much as I love football and I would be fascinated to see the professional side of the sport.

"Asking to be involved would be like a Charlton fan meeting the footballers. I'm a massive Kent fan, so I would feel like a little kid meeting the players."

Elliot intends taking a team of Charlton players to play Frindsbury when the club celebrate their 125th anniversary in the summer.
