Prop Clarke Dermody has signed a new two-year deal with London Irish to keep him at the club until 2012.

The 29-year-old joined the Exiles from his native New Zealand in October 2007 and has made 57 appearances.

Dermody told the club's website: "London Irish has lived up to my expectations since I arrived.

"I've enjoyed being part of a talented and ambitious squad that is committed to playing attractive rugby, and one that can and will win silverware soon."

Dermody added: "My wife and son have also appreciated the family culture that exists around the club and that has been an important factor in our decision to stay."

Irish head coach Toby Booth believes Dermody is a key player for the future.

"Clarke has established himself as one of the best loose head props in the Guinness Premiership," he said.

"His ability as an outstanding front row exponent, and as a leader is fundamental to the success of London Irish going forward."
