Charlton striker Deon Burton revealed that his team felt disheartened after the 4-4 draw with Millwall at The Valley on Saturday.
The 33-year-old scored two goals in the League One derby and says the final result felt more like a defeat.
"For it to be 4-4 at home and not win the game is very disappointing," Burton told BBC London 94.9.
"I think the occasion was built up a bit too much and we were a bit rushed on the ball."
He added: "The boys are really upset; we've dropped two points.
"We kept going after going down 2-0 so early, but fair-play to Millwall, they kept going with 10 men and got themselves back in the game.
"We wanted to keep our momentum going but, but we just have to kick on," the Jamaican international said.
Burton says The Addicks are determined to win their Boxing Day fixture against Swindon Town and regain any lost confidence.
"I know the boys are going to be up for the next game so its going to be a good game.
"If we keep doing what we've been doing and keep producing results, I'm sure we'll be okay.

"We've got to believe in ourselves, be positive and keep picking up points," he added.
Burton also revealed that the team have high hopes for promotion this season.
"We want to win the league. We want to be right up there. We want to be right at the top.
"We're nearly half way through the season and we haven't lost at home. If we can do that in the second half of the season, I think we'll be okay."
