Chester has yet to make a first-team appearance for Manchester United
Carlisle United's on-loan defender James Chester has revealed he would like to stay at Brunton Park beyond the end of his current loan deal.
The 21-year-old has impressed at the heart of the Carlisle defence after joining on loan from Manchester United at the start of the season.
"I've loved it, they're all great lads," Chester told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"We'll see what happens but hopefully we can maybe extend to the end of the season and see where we go."
Warrington-born Chester has made 23 appearances for Greg Abbott's side so far this season, scoring three times.
"I'm still really enjoying it," Chester said. "I said when I came here that I just wanted to play games and hopefully that can continue.
"I went back [to Manchester] last week to try and catch Sir Alex but I kept missing him but I spoke to the assistant who said they've had a chat about it.
"I've spoken to Greg and now I'm just waiting for him to give Manchester United a call to see what they've said."
