More to come from Francois Zoko - Carlisle boss Abbott
Zoko made his full debut in Saturday's defeat of Gateshead
Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott believes there is more to come from Ivorian forward Francois Zoko as he adjusts to life in League One.
Zoko made a lively debut in Saturday's 2-0 win against Brentford and was given a standing ovation, and Abbott expects the player to improve with fitness.
"Francois has a little bit to do on his fitness levels and he'll pick that up," Abbott told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"He's not used to the pace yet, but he's good to have around."
Zoko arrived at Brunton Park having spent time with Belgian outfit KV Oostend, and lists French league sides Laval and Nancy among his former clubs.
Meanwhile the Cumbrians boss was pleased to see his new-look side deliver a promising result on the opening day.
Abbott brought in a string of new players including Craig Curran, Sean McDaid and Frankie Simek during the summer, and was impressed with the manner in which the squad had settled for the opener.
"Certainly on the day I thought we looked the better side, but we have to be talking about that over 46 games, who has got it right and who hasn't got it right," Abbott added.
"But, we are certainly pleased with what we did today and we look forward to again a bit more improvement and a bit more encouragement for everybody."
Carlisle take on Huddersfield in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.
