Carlisle United have completed the signing of striker Francois Zoko on a one-year deal after a successful trial spell at Brunton Park.

Zoko, 26, previously played his club football at the top level in France, Belgium and Turkey, and boss Greg Abbott is happy to have sealed a deal.

Abbot told the club website: "Francois has done really well.

"He's strong and he causes problems for opposition defenders, and he has fitted in well with the lads."

Abbot continued: "He has shown us he can bring something a little bit different to what we already have here."

Zoko's last spell before joining the Cumbrians was with Belgian side KV Oostende after spells with French clubs Nancy and Laval, Belgian top division side Mons and Turkish Super League club Hacettepe.

Carlisle have also taken former Villareal midfielders José María Cases Hernández and Edgar Chumillas Martínez, both 23, on trial along with former Cheltenham midfielder David Hutton.
