Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott is to monitor the progress of four trialists during the build-up to the club's League One campaign.

Midfielders Patrick Cregg, Billy Gibson and Jake Simpson, and striker Francois Zoko, will train with the squad looking to secure a deal at Brunton Park.

"Pre-season is an ideal time to get players in and take a look at them," Abbott told the club website.

"It's a good time to see if they compare to what we have in place."

Cregg, 24, spent time with Manchester United and Arsenal as a scholar before joining Falkirk, and most recently played for Scottish Premier League side Hibernian.

Gibson and Simpson, both 19, were with Watford and Shrewsbury Town respectively, while Zoko, 26, is an Ivory Coast under-23 international striker who played for Belgian side KV Oostende last season.
