Carlisle look set to miss out on a move for Brentford striker Ben Strevens.

The 30-year-old has been told he can leave Griffin Park this summer by Bees boss Andy Scott for the right fee.

But Strevens told the Buckingham Advertiser: "Carlisle had shown an interest but it would've meant moving my family up there.

"The clubs were speaking and I thought something may happen last week. But as it stands, I'll be starting pre-season training with Brentford on Monday."

Strevens faces an uncertain future at Griffin Park following the arrival of Nicky Forster last week.

The Edgeware-born forward has also been linked with moves to Wycombe and former club Dagenham & Redbridge.

He scored six times in 25 appearances for the Bees last season following their promotion from League Two.

He began his career with Barnet before spells at Slough, St Albans, Crawley and Dagenham.
