Barrow Raiders' Rob Roberts is hit by five-game ban

Rugby league

Barrow Raiders forward Rob Roberts has been suspended for five matches after pleading guilty to illegal use of the forearm against Whitehaven.

The Wales cap admitted striking Kyle Amor's face with his elbow in an off-the-ball challenge during the Championship game on 8 June.

The ex-Hull, Halifax and Huddersfield man's offence was upgraded because of five previous similar incidents.

He was also fined £50 by the Rugby Football League disciplinary committee.

Meanwhile, Doncaster's Kyle Kesik was banned for a game and fined £50 for a high tackle on Oldham's Gregg McNally in the Championship six days later.
