Abbott took charge at Brunton Park in October 2008
Carlisle United boss Greg Abbott believes he is finally winning over some of his critics this season.
Abbott has led the Cumbrians to the Johnstones Paint Trophy Final this season while pulling away from the League One relegation places.
"The complaints are getting less and less," Abbott told a Fans Forum on BBC Radio Cumbria.
"The playing personnel is getting better, the league position is improving and the club is better."
Abbott is in his second season as manager at Brunton Park having taken over from John Ward in October 2008.
"I think some of the stuff that had been said early on was wrong," he added.
"I think abusing people is wrong. It does bother me (but) you get battle-hardened to it.
"At the minute (the fans) are seeing a lot of determination, they're seeing a lot of people pulling together."
Abbott had faced calls for his dismissal from some sections of the Carlisle support earlier in the season following a poor run of form.
"When I took over we had one point from 10 games and the whole place was low," he said.
"I think from that day to now we are in a better situation. I want to succeed, I want to take it forward and when I leave here I want it to be because someone else wants to take me to a higher club.
"I'll always give brutal honesty but I think at times we haven't been able to do that because too many of the grumbling people seem to get more power than the fantastic fans we have got."
