Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott has agreed a one-year contract extension to stay at Brunton Park until 2011.

He joined United in 2006 and was assistant to both Neil McDonald and John Ward before taking over, initially as caretaker, in November 2008.

The 46-year-old told the club website: "We are making real progress and I want to complete the job.

"Many of the things we have set in place have the future in mind and not just for this season."

He added: "I have a fantastic relationship with the board and we want to continue to improve things and take the club as far as we can."
