Carlisle United striker Vincent Pericard has pledged to help the club, and manager Greg Abbott, out of trouble this season.
Abbott signed Pericard, 26, after the striker was released by Stoke City during the summer and is determined to repay the manager for his faith.
"The manager knows I came here to work, score goals and get my career back on track," he told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"I'm happy to make an impact, helping the team and the manager."
The Cameroon-born striker, who has France under-21 honours, marked his home debut with a goal in the Cumbrians' 2-0 defeat of Southend United in League One on Saturday.
Despite a difficult time with injuries while playing at the Britannia Stadium, Pericard is convinced he can prove his fitness and his calibre to the fans at Brunton Park.
"I've been training all pre-season. That's another 90 minutes behind me today, and I'm not at full fitness but it's coming," he added.
"Every game is better, which is good news for me and I think my injury is behind me now.
"The goal today does what every striker needs, just one goal to start and the rest will follow."
