Carlisle United midfielder Chris Lumsdon is likely to miss the start of the season after it was revealed he is carrying a troublesome back injury.
The 28-year-old has been suffering from spasms since the draw with Partick Thistle and physio Neil Dalton says Lumsdon faces a wait for treatment.
"They have advised him that he needs an injection," he told the club website.
"We can't put any timescale on it because we are in the hands of the surgeon. Then we will know more."
Lumsdon arrived at Brunton Park from Barnsley in August 2004.
Meanwhile Dalton also confirmed midfielder Grant Smith is carrying a thigh tear which could see him spending time on the sidelines.
"It's one of those uncomfortable injuries and the player has to take care to make sure the injury repairs properly," he said.
"I expect that he will be missing for two weeks and then he will be back in full training and available for selection."
