Jones has overseen a remarkable turnaround at Cardiff

The Bluebirds boss won the January accolade after guiding his team to three wins and a draw last month.

Jones' position was under threat in November after a poor start but he has transformed Cardiff to the form team of the Championship.

The other contenders were Gary Johnson of Bristol City, Owen Coyle of Burnley and Norwich City's Glenn Roeder.

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale threatened Jones with the sack in November following a dismal run of just one league win in 10 which left the Bluebirds out of the relegation zone only on goal difference

But Ridsdale and the Cardiff City board gave the manager a vote of confidence and since Cardiff have lost just twice in 14 Championship games and are now only a point outside the play-offs.

Jones, who has also guided Cardiff to the FA Cup fifth round for the first time in 14 years, said:

"Football management is a precarious job and this award shows how things can change very quickly.

"We are in a business that is emotionally run and sometimes people's emotions run higher than they should.

"Thankfully we've turned it around and everyone loves us again but it has been a team effort, the camaraderie here is great.

"Awards are always satisfying and it is something to show the boys for all of their hard work.
