Cambridge United defender Brian Saah has called for consistent form from his team-mates as they look to improve on last season's league finish.
The U's slumped to 21st in the Blue Square Bet Premier table by March, but rallied to finish tenth.
Saah told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It's crucial you have a good start to build up some momentum for the season.
"But it's a not a sprint and it's a case of being consistent and steady throughout the course of the season."
He added: "Last time the start was OK but we didn't have the best middle, then we had a strong finish.
"If we'd had that form from the end of the season throughout the season we would have ended up in the play-offs."

Last season, Cambridge's hopes of promotion were ended by a run that saw them pick up just three points from nine matches.
"If you do have a little bad patch you need to pull together as a club," he said.
"We are going to have down points throughout the season, it's natural.
"But it's how we bounce back from those that will determine how well we do this season."
