Cambridge United goalkeeper Simon Brown says he does not expect to be the club's automatic first choice number one next season.
He will contest the role with Danny Naisbitt, who joined from Histon at the end of the season.
Brown, 33, told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I highly welcome that situation. I think competition brings the best out in people.
"It certainly brings the best out in me. I like pressurised situations."
Brown has not missed a game since joining from Northampton in February and recently signed a two-year deal at the club.
He will also take charge of goalkeeper training sessions, but has yet to finalise exactly how that will work.
"It's a new season and a new start, but I imagine I would be carrying on with the training for the goalkeepers like I did last year," he said.
"But if that changes I am sure I can adapt to whatever the manager wants."
Meanwhile Danny Potter, who was released by the U's this season, is set to sign a one-year deal with League Two Torquay United.
