Cambridge United boss Martin Ling has said it will be a straight fight between Simon Brown and Danny Naisbitt for the club's number one shirt.
Brown ended the season as Ling's first choice between the sticks, while Naisbitt joined the U's on Monday.
Both players have signed two-year deals at the Abbey.
Ling told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Who starts the first game of the season will be dependant on how they perform in pre-season."

The U's started last season with Danny Potter as their first choice stopper and youngster Laurie Walker as his understudy.
However Ling said he was keen to have a more competitive set-up with two 'keepers vying for a place in the side.
"It was false economy to have a young goalkeeper as he wasn't up to it, but we've got good competition for places now," he said.
Simon Brown came in from Northampton as cover for Potter after he picked up a shoulder injury and held the shirt for the rest of the season.
Potter was released in May with his contract having come to an end, with Naisbitt arriving from Histon.
"I think Danny Naisbitt is a better goalkeeper than Danny Potter. That's my opinion and I will be judged by it," he said.
