Cambridge's Robbie Willmott to miss rest of season

Cambridge United winger Robbie Willmott is likely to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The 19-year-old damaged the cruciate ligament in his left knee during last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Forest Green and will undergo surgery on Monday.

United manager Martin Ling is hoping to bring in a new winger until the end of the season.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "It's a race against time. In wide areas it does leave us a bit short."

Antonio Murray still has to serve two games of a three-match ban and it is unlikely Ling will be able to bring in anyone to face Tamworth this weekend.

Both sides are out of form and will find themselves even closer to the bottom four in the Blue Square Premier should Chester City be kicked out of the league.

Ling said: "It hurts to look at the league table at the moment and, if it doesn't, then players and managers alike shouldn't be in the game.

"A win would relieve the pressure and we've got to do that on Saturday by winning against Tamworth. It's a high pressure game."

Midfielder Paul Carden and defender Brian Saah both look set to return from injuries.
