Cambridge United goalkeeper Danny Potter has insisted the recent upheaval at the club will not affect their start to the new Blue Square Premier season.

The U's are hoping to name a new manager early next week following the sacking of Gary Brabin.

Potter told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We've been through it last year and we just have to get on with it.

"We're paid to give maximum effort and commitment to the club and that's what we are all doing."

For the second season in succession, the U's are set to change manager during the summer break.

However, player-assistant manager Paul Carden has agreed new terms at the club and should offer some managerial continuity.

"The new manager won't be starting from scratch with a whole new backroom staff with Paul there who knows everyone and what they're about," Potter said.

Former Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling is hotly tipped to be taking over the reigns at the Abbey.

Potter is confident the squad will hit the ground running, whoever is named as the new boss.

"The only side which is possibly lacking is in terms of tactics as Paul could lay us out a certain way but the new manager might come in change things," he said.
