Peterborough United defender Gabby Zakuani has said he expects to be fully fit and ready come the start of the new Championship season.
The DR Congo 23-year-old has been suffering with flu over the past week.
Zakuani told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I felt as though I was ahead of where I needed to be so I shouldn't have got too far behind.
"I just need to get minutes under my belt as I haven't played as many games as I've wanted to."
Posh's pre-season preparations have been disrupted by a flu bug which has swept through the squad.
Zakuani is the last player to shake off its effects, but says there will be no problems with fitness come the big kick-off.
"I think we're looking very sharp and very fit; despite the defeat to Tottenham we're not far away," he said.
Posh take on Zakuani's former club Fulham on Saturday ahead of a trip to Stevenage Borough on Tuesday.
The former Leyton Orient man never made an appearance for the Cottagers, but valued his time in west London.
"I learnt a lot from playing aside some world-class players, it's stood me in good stead and I owe them a lot," he said.
