Bury boss Alan Knill concerned by goal drought

Alan Knill
Knill has seen his team win just once in seven outings

Boss Alan Knill has admitted the fact Bury have not scored in open play for more than seven games has started to affect their form.

The last goal the Shakers created which was not from a set-piece came five weeks ago against Macclesfield.

Knill told BBC Radio Manchester: "It just gets more and more tense.

"We need to get back straight on it and start winning games otherwise those teams around us will catch us and we obviously don't want that."

Bury drew their latest blank away at Macclesfield on Saturday - a game which saw Ryan Lowe pick up a red card.

"You could see just before Ryan got sent off we had an unbelievable chance which then went back across goal for a chance to score and we didn't," said Knill.

"Then, in the second half, the ball went across the goal again and we just can't put it in the back of the net at the moment.

"The good thing is I believe we've got some quality and I'm quite sure that quality will shine through and we'll get to where we want to get.

"But right now we just have to dig in and be strong."
