Bishop rejects cash for Bury deal

Andy Bishop
Bishop has been Bury's top scorer for the last three seasons

Andy Bishop has revealed he turned down more money from higher division clubs before signing a new deal with Bury.

The 26-year-old striker has admitted he was tempted by other offers before agreeing a three-and-a-half-year deal.

He told BBC Radio Manchester: "There are clubs in higher divisions who were going to pay me a lot more money.

"At the end of the day, I am settled here and now I am moving over with my family and I hope to stay here for a long time to come."

He added: "It was a bit different this January because I only had six months left on my contract and other managers could start phoning me up and talking to me.

"In the last couple of weeks, I've probably had six, seven or eight managers phone me up wanting me to go down to see them.

"Like I say, I didn't really want to leave and, with the offer they've made me with the three-and-a-half year deal and the way the club is going, I didn't want to go anywhere else."
