Nigel Clough has been at the helm at the Brewers for 10 years
Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough has said that reaching the top of the Blue Square Premier can spur his players on for the rest of the season.
The Brewers' 1-0 win at Northwich saw them go two points clear of Kettering, who have a game in hand.
Clough told BBC Radio Derby: "It doesn't really count for anything in November but it is nice to achieve it.
"It gives the players that incentive and something to cling on to when we go to Lewes next week."
Shaun Harrad's 25-yard strike on 19 minutes at Northwich was the only goal of the match and sent Burton to the top of the non-league pyramid for the first time in their 58-year history.
