Iriekpen has also played for Scunthorpe, Swansea and West Ham
Bristol City defender Izzy Iriekpen is in talks about signing a new deal at the club.
The 26-year-old joined on a free transfer from Scunthorpe United in January and has impressed in his short stay at Ashton Gate.
"We've liked what we've seen from Izzy. We're talking about to him about a new deal and he'll have to pass a stringent medical," said manager Gary Johnson.
Iriekpen has made nine appearances for City, five of them as a substitute.
City have also announced the departure of David Noble and Jennison Myrie-Williams while on-loan Southampton striker Stern John has returned to the south coast club.
The futures of out-of-contract trio striker Dele Adebola, goalkeeper Chris Weale and midfielder Scott Murray are yet to be decided.
Meanwhile Frankie Artus, Tristan Plummer, Brian Wilson and Stephen Henderson have all been offered new terms at the club.
