Bristol City will be without defender Jamie McCombe for six weeks after he was pencilled in for surgery following his facial injury against Derby.

The 25-year-old fractured his cheekbone in the 13th minute of the 1-1 draw after a collision with Claude Davis.

McCombe went to hospital at half-time and will have surgery early this week.

City manager Gary Johnson told the club's website: "It's a big blow for us and Jamie and it's likely he'll be out for around six weeks."
