Bristol City's record signing Nicky Maynard says his confidence could not be any higher after scoring a hat-trick on his debut for the club.

Maynard, 21, took little more than 45 minutes to make his mark as the Robins beat Royal Antwerp 4-0 on Friday.

"I was buzzing just signing for this club and to score a hat-trick has just topped the last couple of days off," Maynard told BBC Radio Bristol.

"The way this team plays suits me and there's more goals to come."

Maynard said he was happy to play alongside Dele Adebola, another former Crewe forward.

"I prefer to play up front with a big man who flicks things on, [I] gamble to get on the end of things," he said.

Maynard says he is already starting to settle into life at Ashton Gate.

"The players have helped me and they've not put any pressure on me, [just] told me to go out and play my game," added Maynard.

"I'm the one who likes to take a gamble in the box and find the space and get on the end of the ball."
