The 26-year-old was set to sign for Cheltenham this week before a back injury scuppered the move.

Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol: "He's got to be right before he goes out - for us and the club he may go to.

"It's all for the long-term future of Brooks at Bristol City because we want to see if his body can handle the rigours of first-team football."
