Bennett was given his debut at Wolves in August 2007 by Mick McCarthy
Brighton winger Elliott Bennett has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with the Seagulls, tying him to the club until the summer of 2014.
Telford-born Bennett was signed by then Seagulls boss Russell Slade from Wolves for £200,000 in August 2009 - and has not missed a league game since.
After nine goals last term, he has kept up his form with 13 assists to help Gus Poyet's side to the top of League One.
"Elliott has proved himself one of our key players this season," said Poyet.
"It is important that we ensure we keep hold of our top players.
"Elliott has been a good pro and has earned this new contract," he told the club website.
"I am now looking forward to working with him for the next three and a half years.
"He has shown he is capable of playing in a number of positions, he enjoys playing our style of football and I think he will continue to get better as a player."
Bennett added: "Gus is a big factor for me. I will always be grateful to Russell Slade for signing me, but the current gaffer has brought his own style of play.
"I have really taken to the club ever since I arrived from Wolves last summer. I feel I have grown up as a person and developed as a player."
