Brighton boss Gus Poyet is looking to bring in a new player after winger Kazenga LuaLua was ruled out for 10 weeks with a broken ankle.
The on-loan Newcastle midfielder, 19, suffered the injury during the 3-1 defeat by Hartlepool on Saturday.
Poyet told BBC Sussex: "It's bad news. It's a big problem because he's important for us.
"We're going to move very quickly. We need a player this week. We need to cover the position."

LuaLua's loan spell was due to expire at the beginning of January, but he has returned to St James' Park for treatment.
Poyet added: "It's a big decision to make now whether to have plaster or have an operation to put in a plate to help the bone to heal.
"That's up to Newcastle. We can give them an opinion but it's their decision because he's their player.
"We wish him well and a quick recovery."
