Brighton boss Gus Poyet says he will not worry about upsetting players with his selections after bolstering his squad in the transfer window.
The Uruguayan completed the signings of Fran Sandaza, Torbjorn Agdestein and Kazenga LuaLua last week.
Poyet told BBC Sussex: "There is only one way the players can prove they deserve to play football, and it's on the pitch when they have the chance.
"If they don't, they won't play. People are going to start getting upset."
He added: "I've said in the past every manager has his favourite players he'll pick first.

"It's very rare that I'm going to play someone who doesn't deserve to play. So it's up to them."
Brighton welcome MK Dons to Withdean Stadium on Saturday.
