Brighton & Hove Albion sign striker Francisco Sandaza
Sandaza scored 10 SPL goals in 2008/09 for Dundee United
Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Spanish striker Francisco Sandaza on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old was released by Dundee United on Tuesday and has signed a one-year contract with the League One side.
Sandaza told BBC Sussex: "After I cancelled the contract with Dundee I knew I was going to sign here.
"I'm delighted to be here and can't wait to play with my new teammates soon. I'll do my best and give everything for the club."
He added: "Gus [Poyet, Brighton manager] called me and I knew they were interested in me. This made me comfortable and I didn't want to wait.
"Some clubs wanted me on trial but I wanted a coach to have confidence in me.
"It was an easy decision because of Gus. It will be a good challenge and a good opportunity to show people what I can do."
Poyet told BBC Sussex: "I've known him for a while, and kept an eye on him. When we knew he was available without a transfer fee it was a good opportunity.
"We'll try and make him fitter and I'm looking forward to see him playing for us."
Sandaza, who started his career with Toledo, scored 11 goals in 38 league appearances for Dundee United after being signed by Craig Levein in 2008 from Valencia.
