Former Brighton boss Steve Coppell believes the club are capable of promotion once they move in to their new stadium.
Coppell spent one season in charge of the south coast club before leaving to join Reading in October 2003.
He told BBC Sussex: "Once the crowd return they're going to be very good.
"The chairman will support the club and they're capable of being in the top division. I look forward to seeing their progress in the future."
He added: "Whoever is in charge of the club when they get to the new stadium will be a lucky man."

The recently-appointed Bristol City manager also praised the club's fans for their loyalty during their time playing at Withdean Stadium.
"To have gone through what they've gone through and to still be surviving is a great compliment to the people of Brighton," he said.
"They've been terrific through incredible circumstances so I'm delighted for them."
