Brighton boss Gus Poyet commands respect - Prutton
Prutton played under Poyet at Leeds United.
Colchester United midfielder David Prutton says Brighton boss Gus Poyet's ability to command respect will serve his managerial career well.
The 28-year-old played under Gus Poyet, then assistant boss, at Leeds United.
Prutton told BBC Sussex: "When he was at Leeds with Dennis [Wise], he was a very good number two.
"He had the respect because he's a top top player who has played in some very very big teams and games. He has no problem commanding people's respect."
Poyet has turned the Seagulls' fortunes around in the last few weeks, lifting them from the relegation zone to five points clear of danger in 17th place.
The goalless draw away at promotion hopefuls Colchester United was the second clean sheet in a row, and the club's fourth straight game without defeat, a run that included a famous win over Charlton Athletic.
"I think he's done a great job down there, he's got them playing pretty well." Prutton added.
"I'm sure the kind of philosophies he's got and the way he works with the players means they're responding to it well. And the proof is in the way they are playing at the moment."
