Bournemouth may have to delve into the loan market this week to bolster their depleted defence, says boss Eddie Howe.
The Cherries saw Marvin Bartley limp off with a groin problem during Saturday's FA Cup win against Tranmere.
The midfielder was filling in for injured central defenders, Ryan Garry and Shaun Cooper.
Manager Howe told BBC Radio Solent: "We'll make a decision this week. If one of the lads is still unfit then we'll be struggling."
He added: "I wouldn't want to bring someone in if one of the lads gets themselves fit and comes back. We'll have to wait and see."
Another player who has provided cover in the Cherries defence is former West Bromwich Albion defender Warren Cummings.
The 30-year-old replaced Rhoys Wiggins at left-back against Tranmere on Saturday and impressed Howe with his performance.
"He [Cummings] did very well in that position and he's only played there a couple of times in his career but he was excellent Saturday," he said.
