Southampton's Paul Wotton joins Oxford United on loan
Wotton made his professional debut in 1996 for Plymouth
Southampton midfielder Paul Wotton has joined Oxford United until the end of December on an emergency loan.
The 33-year-old captained Plymouth to two promotions before joining the Saints in 2008 and can play in defence or as a holding midfielder.
He joins an Oxford team short of experience, with 30-year-old left-back Anthony Tonkin their oldest player.
U's boss Chris Wilder says that several signings are likely this week after five defeats in six games.
He said: "Paul is an experienced lad with a great attitude. He is a leader and wants to come here and do well with Oxford United.
"His record speaks for itself and for the last couple of weeks we have been looking for exactly his type of experience and will to win. I am delighted that he is coming in on loan."
Wotton has made 451 Football League appearances but has only featured three times for the Saints this season.
