| Wednesday, 18 December, 2002, 11:35 GMT Bolton deny Ricketts row ![]() Ricketts is not going to join Tottenham, say Bolton Bolton have denied that striker Michael Ricketts has asked for a transfer. The club have refuted allegations that Ricketts had a row with manager Sam Allardyce and wants to leave the Reebok Stadium outfit. "We can confirm categorically that he has not put in a transfer request and there is no truth in the story whatsoever," a Bolton spokesman told BBC Sport Online.
"He has not given any indication that he wants to leave. "Michael's currently injured and missed Monday's game against Leeds with a groin problem. "But he's hoping to get fit and play a significant part Bolton's fixtures in the next few weeks." The club also said that Ricketts, who has been linked with a switch to Tottenham, was staying with them and had not been fined for not meeting Allardyce's weight requirements. The spokesman added: "Obviously with the transfer window opening in about a fortnight's time people start linking players with various moves. "But, we can categorically say that Michael is a Bolton Wanderers player and will be staying here." |
