Bolton deny Ricketts row

Ricketts is not going to join Tottenham, say Bolton
Bolton have denied that striker Michael Ricketts has asked for a transfer.

The club have refuted allegations that Ricketts had a row with manager Sam Allardyce and wants to leave the Reebok Stadium outfit.

"We can confirm categorically that he has not put in a transfer request and there is no truth in the story whatsoever," a Bolton spokesman told BBC Sport Online.

With the transfer window opening in about a fortnight's time people start linking player's with various moves

Bolton spokesman

"He has not given any indication that he wants to leave.

"Michael's currently injured and missed Monday's game against Leeds with a groin problem.

"But he's hoping to get fit and play a significant part Bolton's fixtures in the next few weeks."

The club also said that Ricketts, who has been linked with a switch to Tottenham, was staying with them and had not been fined for not meeting Allardyce's weight requirements.

The spokesman added: "Obviously with the transfer window opening in about a fortnight's time people start linking players with various moves.

"But, we can categorically say that Michael is a Bolton Wanderers player and will be staying here."
