Barry Ferguson made his Birmingham City debut in the pre-season defeat against VfB Stuttgart on Tuesday evening.
The midfielder joined the club from Rangers last week and came on at half-time in the 2-0 loss in Austria, replacing Lee Carsley.
Late goals from Elson and Julian Schieber earned Stuttgart victory.
Blues boss Alex McLeish used the game to give most of his players a run-out, with only striker Marcus Bent not getting any match action.
